Every month, I pick 5 nonfiction and 5 fiction books being released that month that sound like good reads to me, based on my personal preference in topics and genres, as well as advance reviews on Goodreads and Amazon.
I decided to combine my December and January release posts because sometimes these two months are a bit quieter on the publishing side, and also because I will be in Milan for the first week of January and taking a blogging break, so my post for January would have been delayed.
There should be plenty of TBR fodder here for you – stories of unbelievable journies on the nonfiction side and historical fiction and magical realism on the fiction side. Hopefully you find something here that catches your eye!

This week was a bit interesting for me because I spent the first half in Milan, all of Wednesday travelling and now the end of the week readjusting to being back to regular life in LA. I had a very relaxing two and a half weeks with my family over the holidays, eating all my favorite home-cooked meals, reading to my heart’s content and resting. I feel like my batteries have been restored (despite the jet lag at the moment), and that I’m now really ready to tackle 2017.
My main focus in January will be getting ahead with my blog posts so I’m not always writing them at the last-minute (who else is with me?), getting back into my exercise schedule and also reconnecting with my morning routine.
*For the first time this week I’ve included lifestyle links from the various non-bookish blogs I read that I liked (in the Other Links section). I hope you enjoy them as an added bonus to this weekly post and as a way for me to share my other interests with you.

This post is coming one day late because I somehow got confused with my days between being on vacation and the time difference from Milan to LA, and I didn’t realize until too late that yesterday was actually Monday. Oops!
While you read this I’ll be enjoying my last day home visiting my family (we’re planning polpette for dinner), and then I’ll be on my way back to Los Angeles to get 2017 started for real. Back to work and also time to get started on those resolutions. If you’re starting to plan for your 2017 Reading Challenges and setting Reading Goals for the year, here are some titles coming out this month that you can consider adding to your TBR list.
