Wow! You’re so lucky to hear these authors speak. I loved White Oleander and I highly recommend it. It was one of those books that I simply could not put down.

I love Lisa See’s books! I haven’t read her most recent one yet, but Shanhai Girls and Dreams of Joy were some of my favorites.

Hmmm I listened to Shanghai Girls in audio and thought it was good in some ways and not so good in others. It felt quite over-dramatic at times and a bit of an emotional slog. I’m not sure I’m going to pick up Dreams Of Joy as a result. I also listened to The Tea Girl Of Hummingbird Lane and liked it okay as well, but it felt really slow and drawn out.

Oh MAN. I wish I lived near LA just to attend events like this. I’ve read The Sympathizer and enjoyed it. The writing was challenging for me to get into, but I love the storyline. Nguyen is a masterful author.

The one Lisa See book I’ve read is Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. I *adore* it. I know you read Shanghai Girls. I have it on my TBR — perhaps someday I can better articulate to you why I love See’s storytelling when we’ve both read the same book?
