We’re only one week away from the start of Thanksgiving weekend, so it’s time to unveil details on how to participate on the first official Thanksgiving Readathon I’ll be running with Jackie from Death By Tsundoku. She’s one of my first real blogging friends, and we’ve been looking for a way to collaborate for a while.
This readathon is meant to be a stress-free way of getting caught up with some reading since I know we’re all trying hard to meet those reading goals at the end of the year. Pie in one hand, book in another – that’s the idea. All the details on how to participate are below, and participation can be really flexible – whatever you have time for and feel like doing.
We’ll also be running a Winter Reading Giveaway alongside the readathon, to get one of you all geared up for some cozy winter reading. I personally slaved over picking cute themed and coordinated items for this, so I’m excited that one of you will get to enjoy them!
Dates: Wednesday, November 22nd – Sunday, November 26th 2017
You can do any or all of the below:
- Read as many books as you can in those 5 days.
- Use the hashtag #ThanksgivingReadathon to share your participation and progress on Twitter and other social media sites.
- Publish a Sign-Up Post between Monday, November 20th and Wednesday, November 22nd with your readathon TBR and goals.
- Bonus: Share your families holiday traditions if you’d like.
- Publish a Wrap-Up Post on Monday, November 27th sharing your readathon victories.
- Bonus: Share what you are thankful for this year.
Jackie and I will have Sign-Up Posts up on Monday, November 20th, and Wrap-Up Posts up on Monday, November 27th, and we’ll have a way to link up your posts on each.
Good news if you’re participating in the readathon because we’ll also be holding a giveaway at the same time (from Monday November 20th to Tuesday November 29th at midnight) and taking part in the readathon can award you extra entries. The Rafflecopter link for the giveaway will be included in my and Jackie’s Sign-Up Posts on Monday November 20th.
The giveaway will be U.S. only and will include the following six items:
- a hardcover copy of November 2017 release The Stolen Marriage by Diane Chamberlain
- a cable-knit throw from Elle Decor with a fleece lining
- fuzzy knit sparkly green socks
- a snowflake patterned mug
- a peppermint snow scented candle
- Winter Wake Up tea from Trader Joe’s
There will be multiple ways to enter, including posting Sign-Up and Wrap-Up posts for the Thanksgiving Readathon, so keep your eye out for the Rafflecopter links.
Are you planning on taking part in our Thanksgiving Readathon and are you excited about the giveaway? Let us know in the comments!
If youβd like to keep up to date with posts on Novels And Nonfiction, make sure to follow me on WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest.
I love this idea! Between my husband’s family and my own, we have 2 Thanksgivings to go to, but I would love to participate in a challenge (even though finishing one book would be impressive!) with the days I have off. I’m relatively new to blogging, so if you have any tips/guidelines for linking up, I would really appreciate it!

Hey Molly! We won’t have a formal link-up, so the best way to go about it would be to include links to Novels And Nonfiction and Death By Tsundoku towards the top of your Sign-Up and Wrap-Up posts, comment on any of our Thanksgiving Readathon posts with links to your posts, and also make sure to insert the links for your posts in the Rafflecopter for the giveaway. This way we’ll be sure to be aware of them and share them with others.

Can’t wait for the Thanksgiving Readathon!! Several people in my book club are interested in participating as well. They don’t have blogs, but would like to officially sign up. Perhaps they could post their intent to participate on Facebook or Twitter, using the #ThanksgivingReadathon hastag, and then link that post to your signup page… Does that sound like something that would work for you?

Never mind, just saw the above comment that there will not be a formal link-up. Sorry!!

My blog is on wordpress.com and the link-up widgets don’t work well on it. But it’s easy to link up via the comments or using the hashtag on social media, and then just include links to Novels And Nonfiction and Death By Tsundoku if you write any blog posts. π

I’m going to work on it though. May find a solution by Monday π

The idea to have them ‘sign-up’ via social media is a great one. We’re encouraging people to use the hashtag on Twitter and elsewhere so that we can interact with them and see their progress π They can also comment on my or Jackie’s Sign-Up post next week and include their Twitter handle.

I’m so in! Now I just need to think about my TBR…

I need to get going on that too! But it’s definitely something I’m looking forward to. So many books to choose from! And also it’s left to decide whether to keep my expectations of my own reading high or low π

Can’t wait! I’m curating my stack of books, loading my Kindle with some new titles and searching out missed titles on the device. This will be fun! Sure beats watching football.

I won’t get much reading done with the busy weekend and I have to leave town for a few days the end of the following week, but I’m going to try. Sounds like a fun challenge and a cozy way to avoid the store!

Although we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Belgium, this definitely sounds fun!
I’ll have to check my schedule when I get home to see if I can participate but if I can: definitely will! π

Hi Sabrina! Iβve had a family emergency these last few weeks so havenβt been blogging and am not sure when Iβll start back up again. Jackie at Death By Tsundoku with whom I hosted the readathon last year is hosting it again this year though so you should go to her blog for all the details! Iβm going to try to participate if I can π
