Links I Loved This Week On Novels And Nonfiction

  • Oh Bookish published a very handy guide of book recommendations for the Diversity December book Bingo she’s hosting with other bloggers. If you’re planning to participate and aren’t sure of what books to read for the cells you’re trying to fill, definitely take a look at this post.
  • I’m still struggling to get into using Litsy – sometimes I remember to use it and sometimes I don’t – so this post on Book Riot about different events and hashtags that are currently active on Litsy was a useful read on how to get more involved. It includes giveaways, book clubs and bookswaps.

  • The Thanksgiving Read-A-Thon I hosted with Jackie from Death By Tsundoku was really fun. I ended up reading 3 out of the 5 books I was hoping to read, and starting on the 4th one, which I think is a good result considering I ended up spending more time than I expected with friends and volunteering. Jackie did a great job as well – here is her wrap-up post for the read-a-thon also announcing she got engaged on Thanksgiving! Make sure to stop by and congratulate her!
  • On Monday I published a post on 10 December 2016 Book Releases I’m Looking Forward To. It was a little harder than usual to pick titles as December tends to be a quieter month in the publishing world, but I think all 10 of my picks would make for interesting reads. Several them are up on Net Galley as well if you’re a member and want to request them to review.
  • I also posted two book reviews this week, one for The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict on Tuesday, and then another for Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood on Thursday. I liked The Other Einstein but I really LOVED Hag-Seed – it was an incredibly well-done modern retelling of Shakespeare’s The Tempest and a really clever play within a play.
  • Things at work in and in life in general are ramping up with the holidays so I’m sticking to two review posts plus Links I Loved This Week for the next two weeks. Next Monday I’m posting a review post of the books I received in my November 2016 Book Of The Month delivery (The Mothers by Brit Bennett, Rich And Pretty by Rumaan Alam and The Trespasser by Tana French). Then, on Wednesday, I’m publishing a review of The Year Of Living Danishly, about spending one year in what is purportedly the happiest country on Earth.
