- Get Booked is a podcast by Book Riot in which two expert book-loving hosts recommend books based on viewer requests that are sent in via email in advance. I love the podcast and listen to it every week, religiously, although it has the unfortunate effect of continuously adding to my TBR list. This article lists the 11 Most Recommended Books On The Podcast This Year, so get those TBR lists ready.
- Parchment Girl shared her reviews of 3 books I’m really looking forward to reading: Another Brooklyn by Jacqueline Woodson, The Wangs Vs. The World by Jade Chang and Behold The Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue. She especially loved Behold The Dreamers. Make sure to check out her excellent reviews.
- I enjoyed this post by The Everygirl on 10 Page-Turners You Should Be Reading This Fall. Several great titles – including 3 I’ve already read and 2 I will be adding to my TBR list: Shrill by Lindy West and You Can’t Touch My Hair by Phoebe Robinson.
- Naz on Read Diverse Books completed his series of posts for Latinx Heritage Month and I was so lucky as to win the linkup giveaway for reviews of books by Latinx authors that he ran for the occasion. You can read a summary of all the great posts he wrote and hosted during the month here. I really wanted to thank him for all the work he puts into keeping us all more aware of continuing to strive to read diversely. Thanks Naz!
- Keeper of Pages has been posting reviews of the spooky books she’s reading for her participation in the Halloween Read-A-Thon, including reviews of Normal by Graeme Cameron and Lost in The Light by Mary Castillo. If you’re looking for scary reads, head over there for some recommendations.
- I’m a sucker for bookstore tours, and am thinking of planning my own around Los Angeles at some point in the future. Modern Mrs. Darcy shared her bookstore tour of New York on her blog this week and it was a fun read.
- And last but not least, more TBR fodder. The New York Times shared 8 New Books They Recommend This Week. I’m definitely adding The Guineveres by Sarah Dormet to my Goodreads Want To Read right now.
- On Monday I published a booklist of my 8 Favorite Scientific Nonfiction Titles, including two books by Siddhartha Mukherjee (The Emperor Of All Maladies and The Gene) and two books by Sam Kean (The Tale Of The Dueling Neurosurgeons and The Disappearing Spoon).
- I also put up two new book reviews this week. On Tuesday I published a review for Sully by Chesley B., III Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow, and on Thursday I published a review as part of my 1000 Novels Series for mystery classic The Woman In White, by Wilkie Collins.
- For Monday of next week, I have a new Author Spotlight planned for Eowyn Ivey. She’s one of my new favorite authors, and I’ve read both of her novels – The Snow Child and more recently To The Bright Edge Of The World – and absolutely loved them both.
- I’m planning a new 1000 Novels Series review next week as well for The Tenant Of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë, to be published on Thursday.
- I hope to be able to add a second individual book review on the blog next week on Tuesday, and match this week’s output, but it all depends on how much reading I get to this weekend. Wish me luck as I’m going to The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter on Saturday for an early bday present to myself and then doing the AIDS Walk on Sunday – which won’t leave as much time as usual for leisurely reading.

I’m not that into Podcasts, since I don’t have an easy way to listen to them often, but Get Booked sounds fascinating. Particularly since I just added 6 new books to my TBR on that one post alone… 😳 It looks like I might need to start listening!

It’s a dangerous road to go down, but it’s also sooo worth it 😉 I also listen to the Book Riot podcast called All The Books that is about new releases… also deathly for the TBR 🙂 lol
